4D Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai from $165

Package Validity : 01Nov 2017 - 30Oct 2018

Introduction

With a magnificent moat, cobbled lanes, ancient temples, atmospheric ruins, massage parlours, Thai cooking schools and plenty of noodle stands, Chiang Mai has rapidly gained a substantial share in the Asian tourism market. More and more tourists visit Chiang Mai every year and enjoy its true fusion of different cultures and lifestyles.

Scenic dense mountains, river valleys, hot springs, waterfalls, ancient settlements and historical sites, hill tribe villages, all can be found in Chiang Rai. Once the province became famous because of the renowned "Golden Triangle" where Myanmar, Laos and Thailand converge at the banks of the Maekong River and thus the gateway to Myanmar, Laos and Southern China. Rich in tourist attractions Chiang Rai remains until today a heaven for people looking for a rather laid back holiday, close to nature.

Transport

Day 1: Arrival in Chiang Mai (Dinner-Khantoke Dinner)
Upon arrival in Chiang Mai International Airport, you will meet with our local tour guide and visit the most sacred Doi Suthep Temple (Wat Phra Thad Doi Suthep), containing a holy relic of Lord Buddha. The highlight was the inner sanctum which houses the enormous golden stupa. The temple was built in the late 14th century under King Geu Na, and attracted many pilgrims and tourists, both local and international, throughout the year. Overlooking Chiang Mai from its lofty perch, some 3,500 feet (1,053 meters) above sea level, the view of the city, the Phu Ping Royal Palace and beyond, is breathtaking.

Indulged yourself with the popular traditional Khantoke Dinner which meal is served on a wooden pedestral tray call "Khantoke", stands on legs no more than 50cm high and is commonly lacquered or painted red with cinnabar, and the dishes are all authentic northern Thai delicacies such as Gaeng Hang Lay, a gingery pork curry; the chili-tomato-minced pork dip called Naam Prik Ong, and the crunchy pieces of pork scratching or Kaeb Moo, for dipping into the rich gravy. While ou were enjoying your meal, you will be entertained by traditional dances including the nail dance, the sword dance, the maiden’s dance, and hilltribe dances. These are authentic folk dances of the Lanna region and modern hilltribe dances. After dinner, you will be transferred to hotel for check in, evening is free at own leisure.
Day 2: Chiang Mai (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
After breakfast in hotel, we will visit the Elephant Camp as elephant has a very special place in Thai lore. In fact, Thailand has been associated with elephants for hundreds of years, not because it being huge and cute but the significant and powerful machine in ancient warfare and logging. You will get to see the amazing training course of young elephants. football-kicking and painting are favourite acts among the elephants and you will be invited to ride on the back of an elephant that will take you through the jungle and across the river, leaving you a truly amazing and memorable experience.

Followed by a stop at the Orchid & Butterfly Farm where you can enjoy exotic butterflies year-round bloom. Hundreds of wild orchids and various hybrids with live butterflies that fly freely throughout the farm. And be entertained by some of the macaque monkey skills such as playing basketball, riding tricycles, counting exercises and a demonstration of how they climb trees to retrieve coconut at the Monkey Show. Eventually be thrilled by the exciting Snake Show where snake handlers show a variety of non-poisonous and poisonous snakes, with cobras being the highlight. You will get to hold a live cobra and python. Lunch will be served at one of the local restaurants.

After lunch, we will visit the San Kham Pang Village (Home Industries). This village has assorted size and design of those paper-made umbrellas. The umbrella was nicely painted with assorted design and colors. Watch woodcarving, gem stones into jewellery, Saa Paper (mulberry bark) made into umbrellas; silver, bronze & lacquer ware, and Thai silks being made. Next, we will proceed to The Hidden Village where you will experience a unique ambience and wide range of activities such as the jungle of giant insects and the house of animals and Dinosaur Town. You will be transferred back to hotel after dinner at The Hidden Village. Evening is free at own leisure.
Day 3: Chiang Mai - Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
After breakfast in hotel, we will proceed to Chiang Rai. On the way, you will stop by Mae Kajan Hot Spring before proceed to the White Temple (Rong Khun Temple),a magnificent temple that has a fine blend of traditional Buddhist art with contemporary themes, is a living work of art of Thai artist Chalermchai Kositpipat. The main building is painted white to symbolise the Buddha’s purity, and is covered in mosaics of mirrors, sparkling in the sun, representing the Buddha’s teaching to look back on ourselves and observe the mind. This temple is certainly worth a visit!!

Lunch at one of the local restaurants. After lunch, proceed to "Golden Triangle", that spellbinding spot where the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos meet. This notorious area is bolstered by its history and the surrounding towns. It's riverfront position at the confluence of the Mekhong and Ruak rivers lends it a unique appeal. The roads are flanked by countless small restaurants and vendor's souvenir stalls along the banks of the Mekhong river. Enroute to Mae Sai, a border town that is popular for trading in jade, rubies, handicrafts and other exotic items from the nation across the border, Myanmar. Since most of its activities are centered on trading, it is bustling with life.

On our way back to Chiangmai, we will stop by a local restaurant for dinner. You will be transferred back to hotel after dinner and evening is free at own leisure.
Day 4: Departure to Singapore (Breakfast)
